Investment Philosophy

Client Centered

At White Sands Wealth Management our investment decisions are based off of the time-tested principals of discipline, diversification, patience and balance.  Typically, we will utilize a blended foundational and tactical approach to investing.  The foundational component constitutes 80% of the portfolio and our tactical component covers the remaining 20%.

Our foundation is a blend of our proprietary 100% equity and 100% fixed income strategies tailored to each client’s unique situation, time horizon, and tolerance for risk.  These strategies harness the scale and depth of the resources that LPL Financial provides us with and are comprised of highly-rated, cost-effective, consistent and high-performing ETFs and mutual funds. We regularly monitor the components of our foundational strategies to ensure that the managers are continuing to do a good job and are staying true to their investment style.

We also rebalance during major market moves in order to maintain our desired level of risk exposure as well as to buy low and sell high on a relative basis.  The foundational component is truly a long-term portfolio designed to ignore the short-term noise experienced by the modern investor.

Our tactical component is where we attempt to capitalize on short-term (6-18 month) dislocations in the markets, invest in individual stocks or sectors that look attractive and dial up or down risk based upon our economic and market outlook.  The tactical side of the portfolio is much more flexible and customizable and is where we can add a little “sizzle” to our otherwise stable foundation.

We believe that the blend of foundational and tactical portfolios brings us the best of both worlds.  Our foundational strategies constitute the great majority of the portfolio and are more conventional, time-tested and steady portfolios whereas the tactical allows us to deviate ever so slightly to capitalize on the compelling short-term dislocations and opportunities that markets will inevitably reveal.  Ultimately, our goal is to be consistently good as opposed to occasionally great when overseeing our client’s invested capital.
